Old cards pick up dirt, grime, sticky residue and fingerprints. We clean them by hand, without scratching the surface or swelling the edges.
Cleaning a card sounds simple, but it's where most collectors accidentally cause damage. Wipe grit across a holo and you scratch it; get water on the edges and the cardboard swells. We assess each card first, then use the gentlest method that actually works, so your card looks its best before grading, with nothing overdone.
